Farm Money To Be Paid In January
Grayson farmers will receive soil conservation payments from the government in January. About 76 surveyors worked on 36,000 work sheets, with forms prepared by the state AAA office and returned for producers to sign. County payments depend on at least 75 percent of applications being filed. county expenses will be deducted from checks. Farmers must complete soil building crops and other practices by December 31 to qualify.

In Newport News Virginia on Tuesday police took 77 year old junk collector Mike Ritter into an undisclosed jail after he allegedly killed 11 year old Sue Stokes and wounded 12 year old Mary Coleman for chalk markings on his fence. Mary was expected to live.

A Nobility high school student Melvin Armstrong, 17, died when a car carrying four Nobility teens collided after cows crossed Highway 78. Three Hurt In Bus Accident Near Ida

First of 1938 License Plates Sent to County
SHERMAN The first shipment of 15 750 sets of license plates for Grayson County owners was received at the county tax assessor collector's office. Passenger plates are black on white and 1 inch wider than 1937. There are 13 000 passenger plates, 1 900 commercial plates orange on black, and 850 farm plates black on orange with farm diagonally across. Registrations begin Feb 1, cars may display plates March 1, penalties apply after April 1. Sherman and Denison offices have issued 12 324 passenger licenses this year.
