Austin report explains a new DPS rule effective August 28 requiring motor vehicle accidents on parking lots to be reported to local police and a written DPS report within 10 days. Applies to shopping center lots and free parking areas with injury, death, or $50+ property damage. exemptions include private residential driveways and privately owned paid parking.
The Interstate Highway System begun in 1956 is scheduled for completion in 1972. The ambitious project aims to connect major cities and improve national mobility despite construction delays and budgeting concerns.
Whitewright and Alvord met Saturday as the WHS Tigers defeated the Bulldogs with five touchdowns. Cureton linked with Watkins for an early score, Brown added a 15-yard TD run, Montgomery ventured in from 20 yards, and two Cureton to Blackerby and Cureton to Ryan passes produced 40 and 10 yard TDs. Rice and other Tiger linemen opened holes while Brown’s 65-yard interception return was nullified by a penalty. Coach Clyde McMurray urged championship belief.

Sue Gentry shared slides of ten weeks as a Home Mission Board summer missionary in Northwestern Ohio detailing vacation Bible school surveys revivals and witnessing. The session closed with prayers by Mrs Dale Gore followed by a social hour and refreshments.
Oak Hill Cemetery Association and Oak Hill Cemetery Foundation Trustees announce a joint meeting Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Firemen's Hall City Hall. Open to relatives, friends, and lot owners for association elections and trustee vacancies. Foundation funds support maintenance and improvements.
The schedule lists services for First Baptist Church led by Rev. Dale Gore with Bible study at 9:55 and worship at 11:00 plus training at 6:00 and evening service at 7:00. First Methodist Church under Rev. George Topper offers Sunday School at 10:00, communion at 11:00, M Y F at 6:30, and evening worship at 7:30, with an official board meeting Tuesday and choir rehearsal Wednesday. Marvin Methodist has 7:30 worship at Whitewright.

The Jackie Shaw and Mary Dale Circles gathered at the Bethel church for a Royal Service program last Thursday night. Fifteen members and one visitor, Mrs. Bobby Kay McCartney, attended. After dismissal, they headed to the parsonage for a surprise birthday party for Ruby Cawthon, president of the W. M. U. A gift from members. A birthday cake with candles and homemade ice cream were served.

He recalls a town meeting where figures showed 63 million karats of diamonds and 16 million karats of sapphires and rubies, plus 9.5 million pounds of castor oil rising to 148,172,191 pounds. The 70 by 120 foot sheet metal grain warehouse owned by O K Feed Mill burned about 9 am Monday. Sonny Gosnell said the loss, including 4200 bushels of corn and 3100 bushels of oats, totaled 35000 dollars, partially insured. Firefighters protected a nearby church and other buildings.
Frank Ethan Douglas 82 former Whitewright banker died Sunday in a Fort Worth hospital. He lived in Graham for 32 years where he managed the Graham Mill & Elevator before retirement. A Weston native he came from Tom Bean to Whitewright and later served as vice-president of the First National Bank of Whitewright. He was a Rotarian and Methodist. his wife Bess Thomas preceded him in death. Funeral services were held in Graham, burial in Graham Cemetery.
Gomer Ray Ely 67 of Littlefield died Friday in a Littlefield hospital. Funeral and burial were held there Saturday. Born April 25 1900 in the Ely community near Whitewright he farmed in the Littlefield area for years. Survived by wife and two brothers Roy E. Ely of Belen NM and F Key Ely of Slaton.
Raymond Clive Elliott 74 died at his Tom Bean home Tuesday night. Funeral services were pending at Barnheart Funeral Home. Born November 13, 1892 in Tennessee he was a World War I veteran and retired farmer. Survivors include his wife Ruth Gunn seven sons one daughter four brothers and 24 grandchildren.
President Johnson is in excellent health, White House says after routine exams for his 59th birthday. Vice Admiral George Barkley reports no deviations from the norm and plans general physical fitness without any special concerns.
