By Wednesday night 1302 bales had been ginned in Whitewright, a August record with four gins to go. Pickers plentiful, gins crowded, many workers from Oklahoma and West Texas. Crop quality improving after extreme heat. farmers expect one-fourth to one third bale per acre, with price on Wednesday at 12.15 for lint and seed $34 to $40 per ton.
Grayson County residents received 672,965 dollars from the Home Owners Loan Corporation during the three year refinancing period ending June 13, 1936. The total covered 430 loans in Texas and nationwide 1,021,817 loans totaling 3.093 billion dollars.
W M Pierson has purchased the Byron Sears cottage one block west of the High School, a modern five room home he plans to occupy soon. With several Whitewright dwellings bought recently and rental housing scarce, property values are likely to rise. now is a good time to buy as prices may not stay low for long.
Honolulu Acting Governor Charles M. Hite announced plans to restore Iolani Palace throne room in Honolulu now used as the island territory’s house of representatives. Original thrones held by Bishop Museum will return to the canopied dais. relics of the monarchy remain in portraits mirrors chandeliers and crossed spears. The room features native koa wood furnishings.
Governor Allred weighed calling a special fall session of the Texas Legislature to settle when new members take office. He said he had contemplated the idea, noting the November 3 general election and past disputes over whether terms begin immediately or with the January session. In 1934 a special session ended November 10 after the November 6 election. The governor did not say if he had decided a special session is advisable.
In Grayson County Saturday runoffs, Joe A. Keith of Sherman defeated J. W. Adamson of Denison for representative Place 2. R. C. Slagle Jr. of Sherman beat Ben F. Gafford for district attorney. C. H. Barrett of Sherman defeated J. C. Buchanan of Southmayor for county clerk. Thompson re elected railroad commissioner with 4 223 to 3 392. McDonald led agricultural commissioner in Grayson with 4 269 to 3 099. About 13 000 ballots cast. Keith led by over two to one in the representative race.
In Whitewright the second Democratic primary drew under 200 votes, about half the July tally of 348. Official precinct results show Ernest O. Thompson and Frank S. Morris each 66 for Railroad Commissioner. George B. Terrell 105 and J. E. McDonald 0 for Agriculture. J. W. Adamson 87 and Joe A. Keith 105 for State Representative. R. C. Slagle Jr 141 and B. F. Gafford 50 for Criminal District Attorney. J. C. Buchanan 55 and C. C. Barrett 140 for County Clerk.
Miss Eunice King of Lubbock has been appointed as Grayson County home demonstration agent succeeding Mamie Hines who resigns to lead Sherman High Schools home economics department. King holds a Baylor BA and completed graduate work at Texas Tech. She has teaching experience in Crane and Pernambuco College Brazil and will assume duties September 6.
Washington reports the agriculture department calls the new soil conservation act "slightly less desirable" for Texas farmers than the invalidated farm contracts as payments may be lower. Across the country payments rise from 1935 contracts, but Texas totals lag last year though the state leads in work sheet totals.

A wagon team driven by Reynolds Haliburton and eight people were struck by a southbound automobile two miles north of town. One mule died and the wagon was demolished while the four occupants of the car from Blue Ridge escaped injuries. Haliburton was returning from the gin. the accident featured eight in the wagon and four in the car.
In Mississippi Senate race results show Pat Harrison leading Sennett Connor by 62,100 votes with 1,487 of 1,659 precincts reporting. Harrison 122,650 Conner 60,550 as county totals come in. overall turnout 185,414 from 34 of 82 counties.
Senator James F. Byrnes won a sweeping Democratic primary in South Carolina, prevailing over Thomas P. Stoney and Col. William C. Harllee as incomplete returns from 944 of 1,474 precincts showed Byrnes leading by massive margins.
Will Rogers in State Fair headlines the Palace Theatre program with a Saturday night preview and shows through Monday. Supporting cast includes Janet Gaynor Lew Ayres and Sally Eilers. Also featured are Barbara Stanwyck John Boles and Wallace Beery in Message to Garcia running today through Friday. Flash Gordon soap opera starts Friday night and repeats weekly. Jane Withers Gentle Julia Monday Tuesday. Robert Taylor Loretta Young in Private Number.
Final results show Henry Chaney elected sheriff of Fannin County by 1,188 votes over Tom Denton, 3,935 to 2,747. In the flatorial representative race E F Harrell of Lamar County led Tom L Beauchamp Jr 3,447 to 2,939, carrying Lamar County home vote.
Grayson County farm to market roads receive ten percent funding boosts from WPA. County Judge Jake J. Lay reports approval after a Dallas WPA district supervisor’s confirmation. An extra 3780 dollars will continue blacktopping Sherman Hager man road and 2432 dollars will fund rocking Whitewright Ida road.
Sudbury Ontario magistrate rules a night worker may spank his wife when breakfast is not ready. Edward Winters faced assault charges after striking Paty Winters at home. He testified he returned from his mine job and found no breakfast, then struck her three times.
Whitewright plans to open September 14 with a new $25,000 gym auditorium at Van Alsayne. Senator Tom Connelly delivers the principal address and Julian Montgomery represents the PWA in Fort Worth. The district adopts a $24,018 budget for 1936-37 with local receipts of $24,163 and outs for teachers, transport, and operations.
Philadelphia reports a Keystone Automobile Club compilation of gas tax rates for travelers. The schedule shows two cents for Rhode Island Missouri DC. three cents for many states including New York New Jersey Michigan and California. rising to seven cents for Florida and Tennessee, with other columns covering four five and six plus a six and a half cent rate for Arkansas.

Pastor B Wrenn Webb will resume Sunday worship at 11 a m after a month long vacation. Sunday services are 10 a m Sunday school and 11 a m morning worship with the discourse on The Application of the Golden Rule to Daily Living. Prayer meeting to be held soon and the official board meets Thursday September 3 at 8 p m. Evening service will not be resumed for a time.
Pastor C. W. Dennis invites parishioners to attend the last Sunday in August 1936 with sermons at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Church school at 10 a.m. Young people's meeting at 7 p.m. The pastor urges worship and fellowship as a heartening weekly act.
