Whitewright Area Soaked Sunday By Good Rain
A slow soaking rain hit the Whitewright area Sunday ending a drought that began in July. John Curtis logged 1.9 inches at his town gauge while S T Montgomery recorded up to two inches nearby. Northern and western pockets saw heavy rain with lighter totals in Ector and Bonham. Farmers welcomed the moisture to revive drying pastures and fall gardens, noting the ground absorbed rain quickly and erosion was minimal. Most local farmers had already completed sorghum harvest and prepared fields to prevent regrowth.
