Tickets go on sale Monday for the Pigskin Club annual barbecue priced 1.25 dollars for adults and 75 cents for under 12. The August 27 barbecue will precede a scrimmage between the Frisco Coons and Whitewright Tigers.
Loren Paul Ryon 34 of Whitewright is chosen secretary treasurer of Texoma Savings Association in Sherman. He and wife Doris live in Sherman with four children. A Navy veteran, he served in the Medical Corps and joined Texoma in 1963 after five and a half years at Standard Oil in Houston. A 1957 UT business administration graduate, he is active in the Sherman Noon Lions Club and coin clubs, including president of the Grayson County Coin Club.

T S Dooley farming between Whitewright and Savoy brought in the first 1964 bale of cotton Monday afternoon. It was ginned free by the Donigan Gin, manager Bill White. The 1950 pounds of seed cotton yielded a 480 pound bale. Farmers say the crop will be far short of last year due to the drought.
Mrs W F Thruston 76 mother of Jack Thruston of Whitewright died Friday August 7 in a New London nursing home. Home was in Nacogdoches. Funeral services were in Nacogdoches and burial at Pilgrim's Rest near Martinsville. Born Oct 28 1887 in Nacogdoches County she was Una Harper, daughter of Jack and Jennie Harper. Survived by three daughters and two sons plus siblings.
Mrs. Elma Stanford 69 mother of W. E. Stanford of Whitewright died August 8 after years of illness. Funeral services were at First Baptist Church Randlett Oklahoma with burial in Randlett cemetery. Born in Illinois she married Thomas H. Stanford in September 1919 and lived in the Randlett area. Survived by husband four daughters and two sons with 15 grandchildren.
Tiger Coach Joe Crouch announces football practice begins Monday at 5 30 pm. All players must report for equipment issue. Physicals with Dr Paul Geers Tuesday at 7 pm. A scrimmage with Frisco is set for Aug 27 and the first game is Sept 11 at Wolfe City.
