Weldon Bartley 20 delivered Whitewright’s first 1948 cotton bale nine days earlier than 1947. Donigan Gin Company ginned free. sold at 34 cents a pound with seed at 75 dollars a ton. Cotton loan rate up three dollars for Grayson county
The government loan rate on Grayson County cotton rises nearly three dollars per hundred pounds this year. Grayson's new rate is 30.60 per hundred pounds for middling 15/16 cotton, up from 27.82 last year. The increase on that class is 2.78 per hundred pounds. Rates were issued by the United States Department of Agriculture and posters with the new figures will appear soon.
