Blanton Observes 90th Birthday Anniversary
Mrs. B F Blanton marked her 95th birthday Tuesday at her South Bend home. Friends extended congratulations as she remains active for her age, baking pies and cakes. Born August 4 1847 in North Carolina she moved to Texas with her husband in 1871, lived in Bethel south of Whitewright before Whitewright in 1930. Mr Blanton died in 1935, six of ten children survive.

Bethel Revival Closes at Bethel Baptist Church
The Bethel Baptist Church four miles south of town closed its revival Wednesday night with 22 additions to the church. Twelve were by profession of faith and 10 by letter. The singing was led by Rev. J. L. Whetsell and L. L. Windie with an orchestra and piano accompaniment. An unusually large crowd attended both services. Sunday school enrollment stands at 142 with 85 in B T U, average attendance about 100.

WPB weighs auto mileage ration plan as wartime fuel save
The War Production Board considers a mileage rationing system to register each automobile and issue certificates of necessity for a fixed miles allotment. An East fuel oil rationing move is also seen as likely unless drastic steps are taken, with possible limits on western gasoline deliveries to free tank cars for the East. War Spending Near 5 Billion in July
