Abolition of Fee System Object of Sixth Amendment
The Dallas News reports a pending Texas proposal to end the fee system for county and precinct officers in counties of 20 000 or more, replacing fees with fixed salaries and delaying effectiveness to January 1, 1937 or after a legislative session. It would fix salaries by the Legislature for large counties, with smaller counties optional. The measure excludes notaries public, county surveyors and public weighers. It lists eighty two counties meeting the population threshold and notes renewed fee abuses after Beck committee reforms.

Trench Silos Offer Sturdy Farm Feed Storage
Farmers with large forage crops can build trench silos using guidance from Texas A and M extension service. Silos should be dug with sloped walls for drainage, seven by five feet cross section, and as long as needed. Concrete walls may be added with fencing mesh and a three to four inch concrete layer. Proper packing and watering create high quality silage from many crops, providing stable feed through winter.

Deep Tests Planned in Grayson County and Oklahoma
In Grayson and neighboring counties oil firms prepare a 4500 foot deep test on section 10 near Platter Oklahoma with Huntley & Huntley and Helmerich & Payne as contractors. Geologists expect Simpson sands or other producing sands in the Seminole and Ada fields. Texas side tests slated for about 5000 feet may prompt additional wells, including gas tests northwest of Denison. The Five Nations are noted as the most powerful Eastern tribes.
