The City Commission adopted a resolution adding a ten percent penalty for unpaid water bills by the 20th and authorizing disconnection of service if paid by the first of the following month. Mayor Summers cites neglect as the cause.
Denison veterinarian Dr. Fred W. Madden will vaccinate dogs against rabies in Whitewright on Saturday, April 26. Owners should bring dogs to City Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a cost of 1.50 per dog including the vaccine. Mayor Russell Summers notes annual vaccinations are required and violations may lead to destruction of the dogs.
Subscriptions to the Sun cost two dollars in Grayson and Fannin Counties and two fifty elsewhere. Acknowledged payments list numerous names including George M. Hight D. H. Thrasher Herman Bedford and J. L. Underwood among many others.
Washington Speaker Sam Rayburn said tax cut timing should be announced as soon as practical after determining if cuts will occur. He plans to consult Democratic leaders and Ways and Means before any proposal, and noted Treasury projections darken the budget outlook.
The speaker argues that if the 26 week benefit is extended for the covered group it should apply to all workers. He notes noncovered workers receive no 26 weeks and urges universal unemployment compensation to prevent hunger among unemployed regardless of program eligibility.
John Harvey Anderson 77 died in a Sherman hospital after a 10 day illness. Funeral services are 3 p m today at Barnheart Funeral Chapel with Rev John Roberson of First Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Burns Cemetery at Trenton. Pallbearers are Don Anderson C B Burden John Harold Anderson Ralph England Jr Johnny Willis and Willie James. He was born January 21 1881 in Tennessee and moved to Texas in 1892. He married Jeanette Ann Calvert in Kaufman in 1903 and worked as a farmer before moving to Whitewright in 1937. He is survived by four sons Robert Jimmie Wesley Ollie and five daughters six sisters twenty five grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
Edna Jean Orr daughter of Freddie and Mrs. Orr was found dead in bed at 6 45 a m Wednesday born July 6 1956 she is survived by her parents and a brother funeral services set for Friday
