Mrs Jennie Jones widow of Rev R F Jones longtime Whitewright resident dies at 88 in East Whitewright after 1924 homeward life. Survived by son S E Jones daughters Mrs J L Dyer and Mrs J W McMurry, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral at Presbyterian Church with Rev J F Fender and others. interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
Joseph Thomas Pace age 40 died Sunday at Oaklawn Sanitarium Dallas after a three week illness. Funeral at Oak Cliff Presbyterian church with burial in Oak Cliff Cemetery. Pace noted for church and football club support. survived by mother Mrs C J Pace and brothers Clarence Roscoe John of Whitewright and George Pace of Leonard. wife present at his passing. Pace previously taught and worked as a tailor in Whitewright before moving to Dallas. The Sun could not list all out of town attendees.

Dalhart Texas April 21 Mrs N E Beddingfield aged widow was murdered at her brother D R Jenkins home Sunday afternoon by unidentified assailants using a three foot iron pipe The crime appeared not to be robbery as jewelry remained untouched She is survived by three brothers J R Jenkins Lon Jenkins both cattlemen and C H Jenkins who chairs a legislative codifying committee in Austin

Five county contestants vied in literary and track events at Sherman. Gray son County teams from Sherman Denison and Whitewright led the Class A standings, with Stateville Whitewright taking the 220 yard dash cap and placing second in the 100 yard dash. Leon Bennett earned pole vault second, while Mary Pumphrey tied for first in a Class A junior spelling contest after a two hour finals spell-off with Jodie Hassell.

An official announcement awaits the Republican convention in Cleveland on June 10. A Sunday night meeting at La Follette’s home included Senators Ladd and Franzier North Dakota Brookhart Iowa Norris Nebraska Johnson and Shipstead Minnesota Farmer Labor Wheeler Montana and Dill Washington Democrats.
W. J. Bryan of Katy telegraph office received a telegram Wednesday that his grandfather F. W. Bryan of Pottsville is seriously ill. The 92 year old man is not expected to recover.
James Malone Carter, a pioneer resident of this community, died at 8 45 oclock Monday morning after two weeks at St Vincent s Sanitarium Sherman. He was 68. He lived most of his life near Whitewright on a farm north of town and moved to Whitewright then Tom Bean to live with his daughter. He is survived by Dr Wilbur Carter Sherman Raymond Carter Gunter and Mrs Elliott Thomas Tom Bean. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church with elders from the church officiating and interment at City Cemetery in East Whitewright.
Fred W. Davis former Texas Agriculture Commissioner announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination to the United States Senate. He cited support from the Dallas Farm Labor conference and argued for decentralized government directly answerable to the people.
Judge J P Leslie of Sherman reports the Cotton Belt Railway has set a $9.85 rate on the certificate plan for round trip tickets from Sherman to the United Confederate Veterans annual meeting in Memphis Tennessee scheduled June 4 to 6. Tickets go on sale June 1 through June 4.
P B Miller a lineman for Whitewright Electric Company was killed instantly at 3 25 PM when he touched a 2300 volt circuit He worked alone on 8S Bond Street near the railway interlocking tower and was attending to repairs. Survived by widow and two year old daughter. American Legion funeral with military rites held at City Cemetery.
The Senior Epworth League of the Methodist Church plans a Sunday April 27 rally to set attendance records. Bells and Bailey leagues are invited to join a 4 pm service and a 5:30 pm lawn supper, followed by Whitewright League’s sketch A Morning in the Wesley House at 7:30. Ben Sturdivant presides, Sue McConnell is secretary.
The Whitewright high school team defeated Trenton high school 5 to 0 on the local diamond Wednesday afternoon. Tom Bean high school will visit Friday to play W. H. S., with Tom Bean known for a strong ball club.
Whitewright hosted a successful trades day on the third Monday with crowds from Sherman Greenville Leonard Bonham Honey Grove and beyond. Vendors and new visitors filled the town while farm club and vocational students judged hogs cattle corn and poultry earning cash prizes and a later Sherman Whitewright high school baseball game capped the event.

Bowie April 22. R G Stephens on 39 year old telegraph operator for Fort Worth Denver in Bowie for twelve years died suddenly Monday night at 11.
