Harry Lander Resigns as Sulphur Springs A D
Sulphur Springs Harry Lander announced Tuesday his resignation as athletic director and head football coach at Sulphur Springs High School. He said the resignation was offered March 29 to School Superintendent Jack F. Gibson, who confirmed it and said it was kept secret until after track season. Trustees had previously hired Johnny Dobson and abolished the athletic director post. Lander previously coached Whitewright and led the 1959 championship team.

Funeral rites held for Silas Henry Garland in Bells
Funeral services for Silas Henry Garland 78 of Bells were conducted Sunday at the First Baptist Church. He died Saturday afternoon in a Sherman hospital after a six week illness. Burial followed at North Bells Cemetery. Garland was born April 24 1883 at Pilot Grove. He married Minnie Annie in 1908 in Ida. He retired from farming in Grayson County in 1950 and lived in Bells the last seven years. He was survived by six daughters one son eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services for 65 year old John A. Neal will be at 2 p m Friday at Barnheart chapel with Lloyd Morris and Wallace Mynatt officiating. Burial follows in Wittitoe Cemetery. Neal a World War I veteran and Church of Christ member, died suddenly at his Tom Bean home. He was born Sept 27 1896 in Birdstown Tennessee and is survived by his wife Lora Vincent three sons two from Dallas and others in New Castle Indiana Sherman Cumberland Wis Whitewright and Tom Bean, nine brothers, one sister, his mother and 20 grandchildren.
