The Presbyterian Missionary Society met Monday at Mrs. Floyd Bassett home with Mrs. Bill Holloway presiding. Mrs. T A Gray led the program. Ruth Cox read minutes and led a devotional from Psalm 46. The group heard poems and readings including The Tapestry Weavers Acres of Diamonds and House By the Side of the Road. Meeting closed with The Lord's Prayer. refreshments served to eight members. Next meeting May 8 in Mrs. W J Barbee home. One therm of gas equals 100000 BTU and can cook about 1000 doughnuts.
The Whitewright Riding Club will hold its first Play Day of the season on Sunday April 16 at the Whitewright arena with poles flag race barrels and a two horse relay. Age groups 0 10 11 15 16 21 women 22 plus and men 22 plus. Entry 50c. Start 1 pm. Prizes include trophies buckles and ribbons. Grand prize club trophy and best entry trophy. Jan Bilmer is Sweetheart for the club. spectators welcome free. Uniformed members will ride in the Dallas All-Star Rodeo grand entry at Fair Park Coliseum Thursday night. Jan Vandevers is sweetheart.

Robert Kelsie Douglass aged 79 of Whitewright died last week in Amarillo where he was buried. A retired barber born in Whitewright in 1888, he lived much of his life in the region before his passing.

The Kentuckytown W M U gathered at Delores Speigel’s home on April 6 to discuss The First and Twentieth Century Churches. President Mrs P H Connell led the program and dismissal prayer with participants Mrs Pearl Hickson Mrs Royce Salyer Mrs J C Whipple Delores Speigel and Mrs Billy Morse. A business session followed and refreshments were served. The next meeting is set for April 20 at the Community Center at 10 a m with a luncheon before the program.
Governor Connally announced that visitors spent more than $1 billion in Texas during 1966, the first time such a total was reached. The figure reflects state agency and private sector efforts and excludes Texas residents traveling within the state. experts say domestic spending could add another billion.

Vocational agriculture boys from Whitewright listed to represent at Texas A&M include Billy Smith William H Harrison Charles Howard James Hoyt Clathorn Morris Wilson Billy Pritchett Merriwell Vineyard Roscoe Brown and Granvolee Hansard.
