Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church for Finis W. Alverson 74 of this community. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Sunday morning after months of illness. He was a former Grayson County commissioner and public weigher. Survivors include his wife Effie Mae Chesser five sons three daughters four sisters and six grandchildren.

Holley Rites Held For Trenton Area Resident
George W. Holley 69, retired farmer, died at his Sulphur Springs home Monday evening after living in the Sulphur Springs area six years. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Trenton with Rev. Fred Thomas and Rev. E. B. Jackson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright. He was born January 27, 1882 in Pulaski Tennessee and married Grace Fowler Stein in 1913. Survivors include his wife two Dallas step sons Herbert Stem and Sidney Stem and three sisters Fannie Wolfe of Pulaski Lizzie Whitworth of Diana and Rose Belle Hollingsworth of Lewisburg, Tennessee.

Senate Backs Troops Plans for Western Europe

Bells Methodist Church Breaks Ground in Bells Texas
North Texas Methodist leaders will mark the groundbreaking for Bells Mile of Dollars Methodist Church replacing the 60 year old edifice lost to last Thanksgiving fire. Dr. J. T. Carlyon and other Perkins School of Theology professors will speak. a new hymn will debut with the Sherman High School Choral group. The project cost about 30000 dollars, with a third to be raised by the Mile of Dollars campaign which has collected nearly 6000 one dollar bills nationwide. A May 6 event will span the site drawing an estimated 25000 people.
