Whitewright honors senior in Homemaker of Tomorrow race
Donna Jane Baker, a Whitewright High School senior and regional Homemaker of Tomorrow winner, was among 24 finalists from 880 Texas high schools in a contest that began with 22,491 entrants. Jacquelyn Lee Brown of Truscott won the state title. In Whitewright, voters go to Firemen's Hall on April 5 to elect a three member school board, a mayor, and three councilors, with terms for various candidates listed.

Whitewright School Wins Federal Grant for Cafeteria Equipment
Supt. Dick Capps announced a federal grant of 4934 dollars plus 1600 dollars in local matching funds to Whitewright school for cafeteria equipment. Funds will buy a dishwasher trash disposer and a pot and vegetable sink. The new cafeteria should be finished in 30 days and serve all district students.

Former Resident Celebrates 45th Year With CPS
Leon S. White a former Whitewright resident marked 45 years with Community Public Service Co on February 21. He began as a stockroom clerk and advanced through several roles including storekeeper office manager division accountant and merchandise manager before serving four years in World War II. After the war he worked in Farmersville and Whitewright before returning to CPS in 1952 as sales manager and later became Panhandle Division Manager in Perryton in 1964.

Tom Bean Methodist History and the Whitemound Legacy
The Tom Bean First United Methodist Church grew from a brush arbor at Cedar Camp Grounds near Whitemound to a two story building donated by A. S. Lackey. It shared space with other groups until 1906 when moved to Tom Bean, burned in 1924, and later joined Presbyterian services at Perrin AFB chapel before relocating to a new sanctuary in 1974. The piece documents pastors, notable locals, weddings, and the church’s evolving role in the community through mid 20th century.
