Concord Kentucky man B. F. Leek reports twenty years of lip sores causing pain and eating issues. He attributes cure to Bucklen’s Arnica Salve bought for 25 cents at E T Scott’s Drug Store.
Governor Hanly's stance on horse racing changes the state fair plan to feature a big circus and hippodrome with monkeys acrobats and a vialiste plus Daredevil Castel Lane who loops the loop in an automobile. No major horse performers are expected and if they arrive there will be no pool betting on races.
Mrs. Rosetta Kreidler files for divorce from Albert Kreidler of La Porte alleging erratic behavior habitual drunkenness assault and attempted poisoning plus requests for alimony 5000 and 3000 for five children custody and a restraining order. Separate actions involve disbarment protests over struck jury and a $25 000 suit yielding a 10000 verdict for Peter G Strange against Pere Marquette Ry.
Flora trustees move at the upcoming monthly meeting to abolish taxes. The town of 1,600 has seen population growth, salaries unchanged since incorporation, and contracts rarely let. The town holds about 20,000 in treasury, earning interest to offset taxes and grow the surplus.
A rumor circulates in South Bend that Henry Kline, among smallpox victims, was buried alive weeks ago and that exhumation revealed evidence supporting the claim.
An unknown man, likely a tramp, was instantly killed on the Grand Trunk road between Stillwell and Mill Creek shortly before noon Tuesday. He stepped from the eastbound to the westbound track and was struck by a nearly 60 mph passenger train, with both engines sounding alarms. Coroner Gray of Laporte viewed the remains and arranged burial in Laporte.

An advertisement claims deafness from inflamed Eustachian tubes can be cured only by constitutional remedies. It asserts nine out of ten deafness cases stem from catarrh and offers one hundred dollars for any catarrh deafness not cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. It promotes circulars and lists sales through Druggists at 75 cents and Hall's Family Pills as best.
County Clerk McClung drew forty citizens for a disbarment trial in the circuit court. Attorneys for Lemuel Darrow H W Worden and John W Talbott along with Judge Richter's special counsel will hear the evidence and select twelve jurors. The initial panel includes William L Andrew John L Smith James Conry Garrett S VanDeusen Herman Wilheim Henry Warwick James J Gregory William H Hunt William H Halter Benjamin Bunton Orlando Jones William S Snyder. Algretta Peck of this county was judged of unsound mind Monday and recommended for transfer to the Logansport insane hospital. The commission included Justice Henry Burch and Drs. R. B. Short and BE. F. W. Crawford of La Porte. She is 45 and has shown violence toward friends, with crises and homicidal tendencies though no suicide or friend harm attempts. Brain trouble in childhood and post bereavement isolation noted.
H. B. Herrold promotes a cholera remedy for chickens claiming guaranteed cure and selling the preparation.
Indiana enforces a new statute requiring all justices of the peace to obtain an official seal. The seal must bear the words Justice of the Peace and may include additional wording. Documents such as deeds mortgages and powers of attorney certified with the seal and signature will be presumptive evidence of the justice's official character in all state courts.
Lewis Brown near Weat ville reports a Norman colt killed by lightning Wednesday evening. Four other animals in the same bunch were unharmed. The bolt burned a narrow hairless strip along the colt’s spine from nose to tail in a singular freak.
A Mentor Ohio wreck led to $266000 paid in life and accident policies to heirs. Unpaid life claims total $150000, bringing total insurance payouts to about $416000. Street figures estimate $895000 for 19 deaths, $200000 for injury claims, $325000 for engine loss, $10000 for the library car, plus $355000 for incidental losses, totaling roughly $771000.
An elderly Swed ish farmer named Johnson visiting the city reports he met an interurban car on Franklin Street near Williams and Ripley. His horse bolted as the buggy pressed against the car, ejecting man and horse toward the pavement. The motorman braked immediately, averting a serious crash. the horse was freed and Johnson continued home after minor repairs.
The town hall meeting yesterday was postponed. Officials overseeing the industry offer may seek a more attractive deal elsewhere. Westville will soon announce two promising enterprises led by local people and capital. The Indicator will publish details when available.

Indianapolis July 10 Governor Hanly announces W W Worthly and Fred S Whipple named as Republican police board members. July 11 Frederick Griechow named Democratic member after a drawn selection. Griechow a shoe merchant from Michigan City.
LaPorte Herald reports Justice Simon Wile filed with County Auditor Miller his regular fines collected up to July 1 and turned $5580 into the county treasury for the school fund. He is noted as the principal compliant justice in Laporte County for turning over fines to the school fund.
John F Becks aged 53 died at his home in Michigan City on July 1 from asthma. He ran a jewelry store there for 28 years and had long been part of the town’s business life. He is survived by his widow and seven children Josie Katherine Julia Marie Cecelia Martha Christine all residing in Michigan City except Julia in Hobart. A deceased brother Julius Becks formerly pastor of St. Marys church in Michigan City.
Mrs Anna Davidson wife of L M Davidson of Harvey Illinois died June 30 at age 59. She was sister in law of Mrs B W Hollenbeck and of W E Davidson of this place. She leaves a husband a son and three grandchildren. The Herald of Harvey praises her Christian life and domestic virtues.
Leslie Hasley 84 of Center Township was found dead Friday morning after arising about 4 o clock. He had been talking about the premises. Mrs. Hasley, deaf for four years, lived near Medaryville and was visited by Mr. Hasley who came to this county to settle. Eight children survive.
The eighteen month old son of Mr and Mrs James B Payne living two and a half miles east of Michigan City died July 6 after a kettle of scalding water tipped over him. The mother was placing wood in the stove when the kettle toppled, drenching the child from head to foot.
Mrs. Hattie C. Bush wife of William C. Bush dies Monday at 11 am at her country home northeast of Laporte. She was a well known member of the Laporte hive of Lady Maccabees and the order will conduct the funeral.
Eliza A Clark aged about 65 died July 6 at the home of her daughter M A Wheeler in Michigan City. She had spent years living with her son John Clark in Grand Rapids. Frank C Culley a former Vidette editor of Valparaiso, died in Kenosha Wisconsin at 67 after serving as mayor and other roles.
Mrs Minnie Smith wife of Chas A Smith contractor in Valparaiso died July 4 from consumption. She leaves two small children.
Michael Neimer aged about 55 was struck and killed by a Pennsylvania passenger train while walking the track on his way to work in Wanatah Cass township. He stepped between rails as a freight train approached and was hit by a fast passenger train from the opposite direction. He was an employee of the Pennsylvania company and is survived by his wife and several children.
Theodore Rittinger of near New Carlisle died in his bed likely from heart disease overnight. He was seventy, survived by a son Prof. John Rittingar, formerly principal of Rolling Prairie high school, and three daughters. Funeral services were held Friday conducted by the Oda Fellows.
