Dr Camillus S Fahnestock a renowned Laporte physician died Sunday of apoplexy at age fifty six. He served a large Westville client base and treated many Westville patients. He was prominent in Masonic circles and was buried Wednesday by Excelsior lodge No 41 with Knights Templar escort. Westville Masons were invited to attend.

Fourth at the Home from Lafay ette Soldiers Home

Joseph McCord of this place writes from the Lafayette Soldiers Home about a Fourth of July celebration. Guns fired at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, the village decorated, the declaration read, speeches and songs, and the Sunday school joining in. He praises the commander and notes improvements making the home pleasant with good beds and food. He says contentment there equals heaven on earth.

Obituary: Mrs Homer Herrold of Thatcher Dies

Lea cliffs Herrold, wife of Homer Herrold, died in Thatcher after five years of illness and declining health. Born August 4, 1858 in Keokuklows, she moved with her parents to Porters county in 1861 and lived nearby. She leaves two daughters, one son, her father, and a sister. Her funeral was held Friday at 1 PM at the M E B church, led by Rev. Rodgers, with the Rebekah lodge conducting rites and interment in Westville cemetery.

Death of Orpha Allen After Tetanus From Powder Wound

Orpha Allen son of Mr and Mrs Wis Allen died after tetanus following a powder wound. He was injured when a blank cartridge discharged in a toy plate. He received powder in the palm and later developed a severe infection. Despite serum treatment his condition worsened and he died after a few hours. He would have turned sixteen on Oct 11.
