Pension Fund Resolution Adopted by La Porte County Teachers

At the annual meeting in La Porte the La Porte County Teachers' Association adopted a resolution to petition the state legislature for a teachers' pension fund. A copy will be sent to similar county organizations to urge adoption of a like resolution. A committee was named to meet and draft the petition.

Interlocking Tower Barns Destroyed by Fire at Willow Creek

Fire at Willow Creek west of Crieman Station Porter county destroyed the interlocking tower serving Michigan Central B and O and Wabash lines. The roof fire started from a stove and, with no defense, the tower and its machinery were ruined. The system is out of service forcing trains to stop before crossing. Estimated loss about 5000 dollars and a new system will be installed.

Big Hole Filled At Wabash Railroad Site

After six weekends of work the sink hole on the Wabash railroad near Lakeville in St. Joseph county is nearly filled. Water rose to track level as the earth sank. Workers dumped 160000 cubic yards of sand and gravel plus heavy timbers, likely overgrown lake became filled by vegetation and soil over the years.
