Webster City Iowa December 9 A posse hunt is on for a gang accused of wrecking an Iowa Central freight to stage a hold up. Obstructions were laid on the track near a Latimer curve causing an extra freight to jam the rails. The passenger train slowed to avoid disaster.
Unofficial reports from Manila detail a brutal purge in Luzon after Cavite prisoners escaped. Troops pursued fugitives and killed sixty in the streets. remaining captives were recaptured.

In Greensburg Indiana on December 9 Mr and Mrs Simon Pate an elderly couple living near Sunman were found murdered in a dying condition with the husband surviving long enough to provide a statement before succumbing to his injuries.
