British forces broke the Hindenburg line to four wires and pushed along the front from St. Quentin to the Scarpe river. They captured the second German defense system beyond one mile, took Benayis Lamesa wood La Vacquerie and Hibecourt, and seized the entire line west of the Canal du Nord to the Bapaume Cambrai road.
