Eastern travelers recount a cross country journey to Kansas confronting myths of a wild frontier. They observe prosperous farms, smiling stations, and polite locals, concluding Kansans appear content and modern rather than freakish as imagined by New England visitors.
Agnes Poffenberger was absent from school Monday and Tuesday, Lizzie Brown missed Monday due to grandmother’s death, and students collect for a basketball. Several injuries and absences noted including Maurice Wollner with a broken arm. Visitors include Mrs. W. Y. Herrick, Miss Irma Law, Mrs. Carpenter, and Mrs. Law. The primary enrollment is sixty three. Miss Larabee hired as assistant in Ogallah. The boys organize three baseball teams led by Bert Groft Dave Law and Leonard Gibson. Day Moore left for health reasons. An organ was placed in the hall funded by the Presbyterian Church. Community notices mention farm sales, births, deaths, and local visits. News from Wa-Keeney, Ellis Headlight, and Utica Enterprise cover court, weddings, and town prices. The column ends with ads and a request to subscribe.

Wa Keeney hosts familiar acts including Sunshine Willits Prof Niesley and Rachel Steinman Concert Company plus Shungopavi and Midland Jubilee Singers with seven acts and a single admission. Prices 2 dollars for seven numbers pupils 1.50, single admissions 0.35 and 0.50. Also a humorous hotel tale about a traveling man and a waitress Ella from the Life column.
