A late night blaze at the city light plant disturbed residents around 10 40 p m. Fire officials extinguished the flames near the exhaust pipe on the Fairbanks Morse engine with nearby hose carts preventing major damage. The plant remained out of service until Thursday afternoon as water and a wet switchboard halted operations. Wa Keeney firefighters request ladders axes and better bell repairs and urge voluntary tax to fund needed gear.

Caught at Wakeeney in high speed car chase
Sheriff DeBoer acted on a Salina tip to arrest two men driving a certain automobile. Deputy Fox, Lee Nelson, and a quick chase at the Fair Grounds ended with the pair halted at Franklin street and Russell avenue. The older suspect, William Mozingo, was wanted on a rape charge in Kansas City. the other man was released.

Trego County Fair Sees Busy Week Despite Rainy Start
