Robertson to lead Red Cross Roll Call in Kansas
Fred Robertson United States District Attorney of Kansas has been named director for the Fourth Annual Red Cross Roll Call in Kansas to run from Armistice Day to Thanksgiving Day. A former Kansas State Senator from 1909 to 1913, he helped organize Kansans for the war effort and has since led the U S District Attorney's office. Salvation Army Moves To Fund Drive On Business Basis
The Salvation Army will raise funds in Kansas on a business basis starting October 12, with a goal of 300000 to support a maternity and rescue home for girls in Wichita. Edison Tone Test Wows WaKeeney Audience With Phonograph
The Edison tone test directed by F. M. Munson at WaKeeney Drug Store drew big crowds last Thursday. Miss Jean contralto and Mr. Emerson Williams bass baritone, with Audrey Creighton on violin, demonstrated flawless vocal and instrumental reproduction by the Edison phonograph. The test showed perfect tonal accuracy, even when the singer momentarily vanished and the machine finished the song. Scotch outfits by Miss McNeil and Mr. Williams, along with a duet and piano pieces, earned prolonged applause. Citizens praised Munson and the Edison company for presenting such high class entertainment.
