Yield of sorghum varieties in western Kansas

Discussion of sorghum varieties tested by Fort Hays Experiment Station highlighting Red Amber as top silage producer and Pink kafir close behind for grain in favorable years. Peterita valued for grain in dry years, Freed Sorghum for early grain, Dwarf Yellow Mile as grain in southwest Kansas, Dwarf kafir safer for grain but lower yield, Sudan grass praised for animal feed and pasture, increasingly replacing millet in Kansas.

Commencement Exercises Highlight 1919 Trego County High

The 1919 graduating class of Trego County High School held commencement in the high school auditorium with the chorus, invocation by Rev Wade, and Alfred E. Vanorden delivering the address on education's evidences. He urged students to develop thought, efficiency, and character, ending with the poem Be Strong and a violin solo by Miss Ione Kraus.

Examination Notice For Normal Training And High School

The Normal Training Examination and the examination for High School credits will be held Friday and Saturday June 6 and 7 in the High School building as announced by the authorities.

Taxpayers are advised that June 15 1919 is the due date for the second installment of income and war profits and excess profits taxes for 1918. Since the date falls on Sunday, payments received by Monday June 16 1919 will be accepted without interest or penalties. The Rev. J. H. Oliver of Garrison Kansas visited Tuesday to inspect his land just east of town. Oliver has owned land in the county for years and says crop prospects are the best he has ever seen here. He will receive The World locally and stay better posted on county happenings.
