High School Commencement at the Court House
The sixteen graduates were honored in a ceremony at the courthouse with a foliage decorated stage. Rev HL Anderson gave the invocation, Miss Hinshaw delivered the salutatory, Miss Niesley gave the valedictory, and Miss Blair performed a piano piece. Prof J H Niesley and Prof Wiesley were commended for their leadership. diplomas were presented by Miss Florence Beatty.

Evening Pageant of Freshmen and Sophomores Honors
The room filled to the doors as Sophomore and Freshman classes paraded in colors red white gold and black. The Soldier with drum accompaniment was heartily encored. The evening was pleasant and the young people acquitted themselves with honor, creating a memorable occasion.
Community Program And High School Play At Court House
Tuesday evening the Common was decorated with greenery and plants as Rev Stalnaker of Ellis delivered a 30 minute address. A Manhattan speaker failed to arrive. diplomas were awarded to the graduates by Eva Jones. On Wednesday the High School staged The Miser of Raveloe at the court house with strong chorus performances and varied tableaux praised by attendees.

In WaKeeney graduates praised the county for strong schools led by Professor J H Mestey and Mrs Eva Jones. A large senior class showcased talent in a four act Senior play with standout roles by Ross Blakely, Roy Rinker, Laverne Henkel, and Bish Bassler amid a lively audience. Public programs outlined Memorial and Decoration Day services at the Court House with music and sermons. A local sale of household goods by Mrs L B Brown was announced near the court house.

Five Girls Burn To Death At Utica Kansas
Utica Kansas May 21 five daughters of one family aged from four to fourteen were burned to death in a fire started by a lamp in the Roach restaurant upstairs. The parents were severely burned attempting to rescue the children. The father leaped from a rear window with the youngest daughter in his arms while others did not follow. the room became a seething mass of flames and the five bodies were recovered thirty minutes later. The tragedy leaves the Beach family in critical condition and the town offers sympathy.
