High School Commencement Honors Mark 1918 Class
Last Thursday evening the High School held commencement at 8 o clock in the auditorium with purple white and red decorations and gray caps and gowns. Rev Allison gave the invocation and Hon Charles F Scott delivered the class address. Edith Shaw won first honors Olive Riggs second. Alumni hosted a reception after the ceremony in the gym. A list of graduates includes Zella Clark Charles Leonard Gibson Julius Walter Harries Brom Dwight Hixson Jesse Otts Kessler Beulah Perry Carrie Elizabeth Pugh Olive Lena Riggs Clara Agnes Spena Willis Samuel Spitsnaugle Marjory Lola Tawney. The usual moon and jubilation followed as students returned home for summer.

Liberty Loan Day in Wa-Keeney seals over the top
A large crowd gathered at the Wa Keeney Fair Grounds to celebrate Trego County’s Third Liberty Loan drive. The county raised about 101000 dollars, surpassing the 90000 dollar quota, with speakers including Hon. Charles F. Scott of Iola. Local units demonstrated drills and the program featured orchestra, chorus, and readings before Scott’s patriotic address. Honor flags were awarded to Wa Keeney Collyer and Ogallah for exceeding the goal.

M E Church Notes Mothers Day Observance
Mothers Day will be observed at the church next Sunday at eleven oclock with special music and a message to mothers. Mrs John H Briggs dies after long illness Collyer
Mrs John H Briggs died at her Collyer home on May 1 following a long illness. She was born March 31 1867 in Muscotin Iowa and married John H Briggs on November 7 1889. Five children survive with the husband. Funeral held May 2 in Collyer cemetery. friends express sympathy.
