Dear Sir and Friend, I summarize Lincoln Kansas municipal plant details. Bonds $34,500 voted 1905, completed 1906, combined plant with one power house, 100 hp gas engine, 70,000 gallon steel tank, 18 arc lights, 25 hydrants. About 120 water users and 150 electric light patrons now, plant pays expenses and shows profit, mains extended five miles, street lights added. Rates 12.5 cents per kWh up to 20, 10 cents over 30 kWh. water 15 cents per 1000 gallons up to 50,000, then 8 cents. Original plat rates abolished. pay by meter. Insurance reduced 10 percent since plant, tax burden shared by city. For successful water works, ensure ample supply from wells. combining water and light reduces costs and increases revenue.
