Locust Club Hosts Ninth Annual At Home to Our Husbands

Locust club entertained last Wednesday at the home of Mr and Mrs Cort right for its ninth annual At Home to Our Husbands event. Saint Patrick s evening guests received with a piping Mr Murphy, Irish themed table decor and games of Irish charades preceded elaborate multiple course menu. Readers Miss Helen Bockersmith gave readings, Lacy Herr peed Margaret Hilli performed Cuddy s Baby, an airship ride wowed attendees ending with a dramatic descent near the lights. Pig feeding finale featured Dr Herrick, a noted aviator, amid Victrola tunes and hearty praise for a memorable club banquet.

Trege County Girl Wins First in Golden Belt Oratorical

Miss Tone Krausa, an eighth grade pupil from Trege County, won first place at the Golden Belt Oratorical Contest in Hays among eight counties. She received a five dollar prize, praised by teachers and county residents, while her family prepares to move to Bellaire Ohio after visiting Ogallah.

Institute session planned at Wa Keeney in August

In Pittsburg region predictions note county will likely use the new Institute law to hold a week long session at Wa Keeney in late August. Teachers will gather for five to six days to plan, set rules, and prepare reports with fall details to be announced in time for the Institute. The school visitor also surveys the good roads issue while attending closing day programs. Last Days are scheduled daily through the common school examinations on the first two Saturdays in April.

A meeting of the board of directors was held at the county clerk office on Tuesday March 16 at 2 30 p m. Vice President Hixson chaired due to the president's absence. Otis E B Hall of the U S Department of Agriculture spoke on Boys and Girls Clubs work and the board planned clubs for Boys Sorghum combat feterus milo and for Girls poultry gardening and canning with town boys and girls allowed to enter any club. A committee chaired by Q H Benson with J H Niestey and James Winchester was appointed to oversee the program with rules to be published later.
