Family Reunion Brings Moore Siblings Together After 44 Years
Alley F Moore of Sherman Township attended a Greensburg Indiana reunion with four brothers and a sister, the first since 1880s. A photo on the old homestead site marked six members, two distant travelers came from Seattle and Mason City, while Riley Moore represented Kansas. The gathering was hosted by George Moore, Indiana’s remaining family member. Separately, W D Austin received a letter from son Stanley in San Antonio reporting quarantine due to mumps among nearly seven thousand troops, with other illnesses noted and an airplane sighting without incident.

Stewart L Shorthill born June 11 1840 near Bryan Ohio died June 17 1917 in Wa Keeney Kansas aged 77 He moved from Ohio to Trego county Kansas in 1878 later settled in Wa Keeney He married Mary Ball Oct 3 1867 and leaves a wife a daughter and three grandchildren A Civil War veteran he served in the 100th Ohio regiment and was wounded and imprisoned at Libby He helped organize Sabbath schools and served as superintendent in two towns His funeral was held at the Methodist church and he rests in Wa Keeney cemetery
