Common School Commencement Exercises Feature 1918 Graduates

Last Friday afternoon the Common School graduating exercises were held at the Court House. Despite the heat a large crowd attended as Edwin L. Holton of Manhattan Agricultural College gave an instructive address. Clemford Kulp played a splendid march for the 68 graduates who entered the platform and took their places. Ten students were absent, bringing the total to 78. Katherine Hemphill sang Spring Flowers with a pleasing voice. Professor Wiesley introduced the speaker, and Professor Niesley presented the diplomas. Ruth Bingham, Elsie Zeman, and Sheldon Campbell performed a piano trio to conclude the exercises. The following is the list of the graduates.

Death of Mrs Anna Evans in Wa-Keeney

Mrs Anna Evans died after a long illness on June 17 at the home of Mrs Lesley. Born in Ohio in 1843 and married in Michigan, she lived in Kansas most of her life and spent her last years in Wa-Keeney. She leaves one son Harry. funeral at the M E church led by Rev Powell with pallbearers from the State Guard. Interment in Wa-Keeney cemetery.
