Governor Won’t Seek Change in State School Lands Policy
Governor Hoch concludes western Kansas conditions favor keeping current laws on state school lands. After investigating land sales and consulting the state accountant, he finds the minimum price drop from 3 to 1.25 dollars an acre remained sensible. He cites western demand for cheap land to attract settlers and notes about one million acres exist, with most sales at or above the minimum.
