Doersching Family Pioneer Dies at 83 in Kansas
Morgan Edward Doersching born May 13 1887 Schwerin Mecklenburg Germany died January 1911 in Ransom Kansas at age 23 7 months 17 days survived by wife Agnes and seven children. He came to Iowa and farmed before enlisting in the Civil War with Company E 2nd Minnesota Infantry and served throughout the conflict. Afterward he settled in Minnesota then Kansas moving to a homestead near Ransom before later living in town passed away in Ransom funeral held at M E Church led by Rev Gillmore. He was described as a kind neighbor and progressive citizen with many lifelong friends.

Trogo County board convened its first meeting of the new two year term with no new members. John McNaughton was elected chairman and salaries set for health officer Dr Herrey at 800 and courthouse janitor N W Phares at 45 monthly. County banks named as depositors, deputy and county attorney positions noted. Audrey Anderson visited from Ogallal on business.

World price rise prompts annual subscription increase
Beginning March 1 1917 the World will cost 1 50 per year up from prior rate. All goods from drugs to hardware have doubled or trebled in price. Print paper materials especially ink and dye stuffs have surged. Local dailies and Sixth district papers have raised rates. A 1 00 yearly county paper now yields 62 issues at under 3 cents weekly.
New Foos Engine Starts City Light Plant Shift
A new seventy horsepower Foos engine and dynamo began operation with the current system Tuesday. The combined 150 horsepower will handle the rising load, replacing the older eighty horsepower unit. City plans to run the plant 24 hours daily starting between now and the end of March.

Hughes Plurality Over Wilson Shown In Dispatches
A New York dispatch reports the presidential returns with Wilson at 9 116 296 votes and Hughes at 3 547 474, claiming Wilson’s great popular plurality of 68 822. Obituary for Aurelia Sabrina Rockwell of Wa-Keeney
Aurelia Sabrina Rockwell born October 10 1855 in Mishawaka Indiana died January 5 1917 at her Wa Keeney Kansas home at age 61. She married William Nevis February 23 1874 in Mitchell County Kansas and had four children Harvey Obis Grace Neshith Verna Muff Ola Novis. The family moved from Todiana to Kansas in 1897 and later to Wa Keeney in 1914. She joined the Methodist church in 1887, was active in the ladies and society, and died after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church and interment was in Wa Keeney cemetery. She leaves husband, four children, three sisters and ten grandchildren along with many friends.

Farmers Call For Auto Parking Reform In City Streets
A farmer proposed steering autos to the center of streets and banning curbside parking to keep wagons from blocking stores. He urged owners to adopt such zoning voluntarily, noting farmers already prefer central parking after testing its advantage over curbside stops. If owners act, no ordinance may be needed.
