Harry C Greenwood and Miss Bess Ashcroft wed in Hill City with Geo E Scherer Probate Judge officiating. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ashcroft, is a Hill City High School graduate and Evergreen teacher. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. D C Greenwood, is a young Hill City businessman and Chicago Lumber & Coal Co director.
Hays City Milling and Elevator produced one million sacks of flour in 2012 using Ellis county wheat. The 48 pound sacks would stretch 500 miles, require 1250 railcars, and a ten mile long train to ship. Repairs caused ten days downtime. operation ran day and night, milling 4400 bushels per day into 1000 barrels of flour. An estray notice lists two red shoats about 65 pounds near Ogallah, with owner to claim by paying keeping costs.
