Abram V Hixson born March 2 1848 in Somerset County New Jersey died December 21 1912 at Wa Keeney Kansas aged 64 years 9 months and 19 days. He moved to Illinois in 1854 married Henrietta Greendyke October 14 1870 at Raritan and had four children J G Hixson Wa Keeney Mrs W A Howe Delta Colorado Mrs F A Howe Cedar Edge Colorado and Mrs M H Powers Ogallah all present at his funeral in Ogallah conducted by Rev S L Allison. The family lived near Ogallah since 1588 and later moved to Wa Keeney and engaged in mercantile pursuits and farming. He joined the Dutch Reformed church at 15 and was a member of the Wa Keeney Presbyterian Church at death.
A pre Christmas run of 3000 cattle sold strong to 10 cents higher, with some held over. Hogs numbered 8000 at 5 cents higher, tops 9.45 and bulk 7.10 to 7.40. Sheep and lambs advanced 25 to 30 cents, lambs 3.00 top, yearlings 7.00, wethers 5.00, ewes 4.50. December cattle receipts reach about 140,000 head, 30 percent above last December.

Walter and Mrs. Nelson of Wild West Show farm visit Mrs Nelson’s parents and friends east of Ellis. Milo Sisugtter was taken to Hays City Hospital last week for appendicitis surgery and was resting easy on the latest report.
