Death of Joseph Runyon in Kansas
Joseph Runyon born August 22 184 in Carroll County Ohio died December 21 1909 at Wade Keney Kansas aged 55 years 4 months and 29 days. A veteran he served as a second lieutenant and later captain in the 60th Illinois regiment of volunteers. After the war he settled near Ellis Kansas then moved to Hay to run an implement business before retiring to rest with eight children and his wife at his side. Funeral held at the G A R hall with the clergy paying tribute and neighbors praising his long life of toil. Dr Jay Brown of Salina to visit Ellis and surrounding towns January 11 12 for eye ear nose and throat care. Fat bees wanted. High price offered.
