The Agricultural College prepares for a busy fall with two new buildings, the Domestic Science and Art building and the Veterinary building, each three stories tall and packed with laboratories kitchens and exhibition rooms. Additions to the iron and brass foundries and mechanical shops expand the campus engineering facilities while the Creamery gets an artificial ice plant and a new churn. The old Domestic Science space becomes the Printing Department hub as work accelerates to welcome about twenty five hundred Kansas youths next year.
About forty friends of Mr. William Kelly gathered at his camp seven miles south of town in Charles Folker's grove for a day of pleasure. Assisted by W. H. Swiggett and Albert Lawson, guests arrived by carriage, auto, and on horseback. A noon camp dinner satisfied all, with no questions asked. The crowd enjoyed a general picnic, while Mr. Lawson used his kodak for photos. Names present included Mrs. L Schmitt, Dr. Herrick family, C. L. Hardman family, W. Mattingly family, C. F. Folkner family, Wm. Grakel, Fred Schemm, H. F. Garrels, Misses Marjorie McCoy, Lucia Kelly, Margaret Swiggett, S. F. Kelly, C. F. Garrels, Theodore Kos, and others.
Meeting of the county central committee called to order by A S Peacock former secretary. Will Clark named temporary chairman and C D Vetter temporary secretary. I T Purcell elected county chairman with C D Vetter as secretary treasurer. Ray Cockrell and J H Hawkins named to fill council vacancies from Adair and Banner precincts. Meeting adjourned subject to call.
The Ladies Foreign and Home Missionary society of Collyer will hold a bazaar at that place Saturday September Sth. Ice cream will be served both after noon and evening. A cordial invitation to all. Uncle Jesse Cockrell called on friends Thursday reporting Mrs. Cockrell no better. Uncle Jess, longtime threshing pioneer of the central states, has retired. Ellis Headlight.
