Fire at Ness City livery stable fires town alarm
Last Sunday night a blaze at L. J. Mackinnell’s livery stable on Main and Pennsylvania avenues sent flames and smoke through Ness City. Marshal Hughes and McKinnis rushed to save horses and carriages, but the barn burned as wind pushed embers to nearby structures. The day’s fifth major fire since January 1, with origin still largely unknown, followed by scattered guard duty and rumors of other stores catching fire before being proven false.
