Residents oppose livery barn on Chelan Avenue Wenatchee

River rises fast but bridge is safe

The river now stands nearly 30 feet above low water. At 4 this morning six more bents supporting the new bridge failed after a 144 inch steel cable snapped under heavy strain. Workers were alerted within 20 minutes and rushed to the scene to reinforce the structure as crews haul timbers for a sheer boom.

Joe Appel proprietor of the Vendome Cafe was fined 75 and costs after pleading guilty to possessing adulterated foods intended for sale. Dairy and Food Commissioner L Davies oversaw the case with state inspector Willie the Meat Man assisting. ten tons of beef products were seized and burned earlier. Rumors of more bad beef surface, while local meat markets are reported cleaner and sanitary.
