Farmers Telephone grows to Pacific Northwest network
Starting with a small exchange three years ago the Farmers' Telephone and Telegraph Co. has built the strongest local system in the United States with over 800 telephones from Peshastin to Malaga. A brick building houses a modern switchboard and the entire Wenatchee Valley telecommunication network. The venture began to meet orchardists needs for market and shipment updates, expanding as growers invested, until villagers joined as subscribers and stockholders.
