Council approves free services for Randwick site plan

Macquarie Shire Council last Friday discussed engaging Mr. Bode for Show and Sports Ground Trust works after his Sydney visit and photo survey of Randwick water installations. A Department of Main Roads visit to Wellington was arranged for February 8 to review the shire road system, with officials to prepare a case for presentation on arrival.

Swimming Club Meets Fine Show at Baths Night

Price for This Season s Wheat

The Minister of Commerce and Agriculture announces a guaranteed price for the wheat ear crop under the Agricultural Act. The 1547-48 season figure of 6/3 a bushel is used, varying with production cost changes. After an enquiry the Bureau of Agricultural Economics recommended no increase for the coming season, while the Wheat Board raised selling price to 6/9 per bushel for local consumption from December 1, 1948.

Country Party backs Coonabarabran man for Lawson seat

Saleyards Revenue Reveals Local Asset Value

Vice President Dr W and Johanson disclosed in the annual council report that saleyards revenue shows asset value. For January to June 1889 sales included 2258 store cattle 32700 fat sheep 73419 store sheep 1209 pigs and one horse. July to December totals included 1508 fat cattle 1108 store cattle 16338 fat sheep 58062 store sheep 2281 pigs and three horses. Overall yearly totals show 3807 fat cattle 3554 store cattle 50038 fat sheep 191581 store sheep 217 stud sheep 2330 pigs and four horses sold.

Unanimously re elected Macquarie Shire Council President Dr R. Johanson was admitted to Bindawalla Private Hospital for medical treatment shortly after last Friday’s meeting. Lovely to Drive N R M A TEST OF HOLDEN CAR

The NRMA chief engineer C A Napthan hailed the Lovely to drive Holden after a road test of the Ansiratien tarled Holder on a 130 mile Maroote Windsor Kiuuttajong Heights circuit. The one car averaged 30.6 mph with 322 mpg fuel use and 60 per cent braking at 20 mph. Napthan praised its appearance, handling and vision, noting test mileage was limited and future improvements may come. Wellington showings drew about 800 visitors with strong enthusiasm for deliveries expected next month.
