Peanut Festival Kicks Off With Parade In Wellington
The Collingsworth County Peanut Festival and County Fair start Friday with a 2 p.m. parade led by Greenbelt Electric and grand marshals the Wellington Skyrockets. Events run Friday and Saturday with contests, crafts, food and games at Burn Handley Community Building and Ellison Park.

Annual crops tour Sept 12 in Collingsworth County
The Texas Cooperative Extension Office in Collingsworth County sponsors its annual crops tour starting 8:30 a.m. five miles north of Quail at the irrigation cotton variety test site. Experts from Vernon Amarillo discuss Flex cotton varieties weed control peanut varieties insect management irrigation and in field moisture sensors. A free lunch follows with talks on alfalfa production and dairy industry changes. USDA updates and private applicator regulations wrap up the day along with five CEUs for pesticide applicators. RSVP to the Extension office by tomorrow.
