Fleeting Moments From The Wellington Leader Fragments
Miss Mary Trammel was named Collingsworth County home demonstration agent and began work September 1 after teaching in Oklahoma and Michigan. Blood donors totaled 158 pints for defense, flown to Amarillo and Fort Worth for processing. Seventeen towns sent 60 people in 30 planes to Marian Airpark for a Flight Breakfast with awards for pilots. The September 6 note previews the Panhandle Firemen’s Association convention and a large Quarter Horse Show. September 7 coverage highlights Wellington Skyrockets opening 1972 season against Hollis and a hospital rehabilitation plan led by Altom and Jones. A WTSU agriculture course by Dr. Ronald Thomason is announced. A memorial poem by R. L. Templeton honors Sgt. Pat N. Templeton, KIA 1942, with reflections on duty and loss.
