A compact account recalls the 1843 Sniveley Expedition in the Texas Panhandle aimed at intercepting a Mexican wagon train. Texans clashed with U S troops under Captain Cooke. after surrender only ten Texas rifles were allowed for the return journey, and ensuing Indian attacks tested the remnants until the expedition ended.
