90th Birthday Honors for Oran K. Gragson in Las Vegas
Local couple Willie and Laurine Gragson attended a Las Vegas dinner honoring Oran K. Gragson, former Las Vegas mayor and Collingsworth County native. Gragson, who moved to Las Vegas in 1932, served 16 years as mayor starting in 1959 and left a lasting impact celebrated by city officials, with highways and a school named for him. He befriended leaders from MLK to presidents and celebrities, yet remained “the boy from Sumnerwood.”
