Airport Hanger Lease Hike and Fire Truck Plans

Wellington City Council raised hangar land leases at Marian Airpark from 50 cents to 3.00 per front foot effective Jan 1 1978, to align with market prices and limit use to aviation related purposes. Fire Chief David Peters outlined a planned 30 000 dollar purchase of a new fire truck next year to replace a 1948 model and preserve insurance credit. The council approved a base radio station at City Hall with remote units for sheriff’s office jail and deputy-relief dispatcher, canceled the July 4 meeting, and authorized land purchase from Sam McGill for flood control. They tabled airplane use guidelines for county city and ambulance services. One bid for Marian Airpark hangar won by Louis Allred at 3062. Noise complaints in Ellison Park led to turning off tennis court lights at 11 pm.
