Emergency management exercise set for September fifth
A countywide emergency management exercise is planned for September 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of 7th and Fort Worth Streets, featuring a mock bus wreck. Attendees include WVFD WEMS Quail VFD Sumnerwood VED city officials and Wellington agencies. Local agencies must train yearly to comply with state and federal plans.

Wellington High School will launch a CISCO Networking Academy for the 2000 2001 school year. The four semester program targets eleventh graders to prepare for the CISCO Certified Networking Associate exam and future engineering or science studies. A prerequisite tenth grade computer maintenance class starts the pathway.

Blacksher denied new trial in Eddy Blacksher case
Collingsworth County District Court met June 12 13 and June 20 to rule on a motion for new trial after allegations of jury misconduct in the April trial. Blacksher was found guilty on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the June 1 1998 incident. The case involved forged claims by Natalie Blades and Glenford Moor and a lottery prize deception charge.
