Members of the First Baptist Church return from a two week Russia trip as missionaries. They will recount experiences Sunday night June 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. Channel 5 will televise the program, followed by trip videos for attendees. The public is invited.
Government commodities will be distributed Friday, June 23 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Senior Citizen Center, 702 East Avenue, according to RSVP director Bonnie Guthrie. Distribution includes butter, rice, tomatoes, pinto beans, green beans, peaches and pears.

The 100th Judicial District Court in Wellington on Monday June 20 1995 sentenced three defendants on four charges Judge David McCoy presiding A Collingsworth County case led to a guilty plea for aggravated sexual assault with eight years deferred adjudication a 1500 dollar fine and 200 hours of community service R L Hunnicutt Jr A Childress County defendant Gary Brown pled guilty to aggravated assault and retaliation receiving seven year terms on each count to run concurrently A Carson County case saw Robert Boren plead guilty to felony driving while intoxicated with a 1000 dollar fine and five years in the Institutional Division
The Sheriff’s Department reports eight arrests from May 31 to June 20 with details including a June 6 theft by check arrest, a June 9 criminal trespass case, a June 11 suspended license and no insurance charge, a June 12 probation violation, a June 16 surrender on a Deaf Smith County warrant, a June 18 public intoxication, and two June 19 cases including district court charges and a dismissed Childress County charge. The Wellington Country Club hosts the Guys and Dolls Golf Tournament June 24-25 with 54 teams entered and tee times at 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. for entries call 447-5050.
