Collingsworth County is accepting nominations for the County Committee election for LAA3. Nominees must live in Collingsworth County and in the LAA, with at least three candidates on the ballot. Deadline to submit is January 21, and pickup forms are at the county office.
The Wellington ISD Board of Education met January 6 2000 and voted to extend Superintendent Carl Taylor's contract through June 2003. The board approved a $10 557 bid from Witt Builders Supply Amarillo for gym floor water damage repairs funded by insurance. Budget amendments passed. Staff changes included Martha Green resigning and Janee Ingram moving to prekindergarten with Cristin Davis hired for the new position. Dr Allison donated trees to be planted on district grounds.
Collingsworth County Extension Agent Dale Dunlap announced the 8th annual 4 H and FFA junior livestock show and premium sale will be held Saturday January 29 at Bill Wilson Arena on Highway 83 North. Goats lambs barrows and steers shown with Pee Wee starting at 9 am and sale at 6 pm. A barbecue runs 5 to 6 pm in the yellow gym. Admission $5 adults $3 children. Park Central in Amarillo hosts a free seminar titled Protecting Your Assets featuring Sharon Allen a Certified Senior Advisor and Sharon E White an estate planning attorney. The event on Thursday January 20 at the Burn Handley Community Building Club Room runs 9:30 registration, 10:00 program, Q A and complimentary lunch at noon. Advanced registration is requested.
A financial aid seminar will be held Thursday January 13 at WHS high school auditorium at 6 30 pm. Parents of juniors and seniors are especially invited to attend.
