Burn ban in Collingsworth County extended by Court order

Collingsworth County remains under a burn ban from December 12, 2005, until the Commissioners Court lifts it. The order directs residents and authorities to enforce restrictions to prevent fires amid dry conditions.

Contact County Tax Office for Voter Card Issues

Patsy Barnett, Collingsworth County Tax Assessor-Collector, says December mailed voter cards were not received should contact the tax office. Moved residents in last two years won’t receive a card. undelivered cards go on a suspension list and are removed after two federal elections. Call (806) 447-5606 for not receiving a card.

Wellington Activity Center Opens KSA Basketball Signups

The Wellington Activity Center begins KSA Basketball signups on January 5, running through January 19. Parents must submit a permission form and pay a $15 entry fee per child, along with the code of conduct, to participate in ESA. For details call 447-0110.

Texas, Oklahoma wildfires amid statewide disaster in 2005

Texas and Oklahoma faced ongoing wildfires during the New Year weekend as drought and heat fueled outbreaks. Governor Perry declared a statewide disaster on December 27 2005, with National Guard AH-60 and CH-47 helicopters mobilized from Dallas and Austin to assist crews. Louisiana also sent Black Hawk helicopters with crews to support firefighting efforts. No major weather shifts reported.
