Locals assist in decorating Texas House Christmas tree
The Texas Capitol tree lighting took place December 4 as the 25 foot Eastern Red cedar from Camp Swift was decked by Nelda Laney and the Legislative Ladies Club. Locals Janise Langford and Jan Chambers joined from Graham to bring Wellington ornaments while volunteers added pieces from Wellington Elementary and Wellington High School. The display, featuring Texas themes and a salt dough Santa from Lady Bird Johnson, sits in the House Chamber back hall, open to the public 8 to 8:30 weekdays and 9 to 5 weekends.
