Daily menus list meals for Monday to Friday with entrees such as sausage with lima beans on Monday and roast beef or roast turkey later in the week. Each day includes vegetables fruits milk oleo and bread or biscuits as standard sides.
The Care Center's week featured a rhythm band with Dorothy and Lola Estes at the piano, followed by bingo and fitness sessions. Residents and volunteers, including Sue Parker, Osa Lee, James Barber, and Delma Jesse, enjoyed singing, Bible study, dominoes, and a Friday movie "The Christmas Box." A holiday dinner, church services, and a guest registry of visitors from multiple towns closed the week with condolences to the Sam Morgan family.
Sixth and seventh grade students from Samnorwood Junior High School attended The Nutcracker on Friday December 8 accompanied by Mrs. Lisa Ellis and Mrs. Kim Keys. Before the show they ate at the Mall and shopped briefly. Participants included David Bell Wesley Kent Karley Neeley Tyler Neeley Quentin Read Cydney Rigsby Ronnie Roberson Cody Stanley Taylor Vampran Sydney Armstrong Joshua Cain Victoria Riker Jerra Speed Thomas Williams and Trey Wright.
Wellington Elementary in Amarillo joins Window on the World program for 2006-2007, one of seven Texas Panhandle schools collaborating with arts groups to center learning on arts and culture. Nov 8 kindergartners visited Discovery Center for Bubblemania, Nov 29 first graders explored Weather Watchers, and Dec 7 fourth and fifth graders attended Lone Star Ballet’s The Nutcracker with Nutcracker artworks and etiquette lessons.
Community gathers in Wellington for a festive holiday event at the Opportunity Center. Santa, lights, music, and fellowship filled the square as volunteers and staff prepared meals, decorated the tree, and shared guitar and choir performances.
